Dina needs a house so she is selling one AWESOME art collection

October 12, 2011• bySeattle Gay Scene

Alex Gross: “End User” (Oil on paper 24″ x 18″ 2010) Collection of Grady West.

Jen Graves at The Stranger/SLOG has the poo…legendary Seattle performer Dina Martina, aka the legendary Grady West is selling his amazing art collection to help make a down payment on a new home. Dina might not have very good taste, but Mr. West has an astonishingly good eye for contemporary pop surrealistic art…there are some gems in his collection, and works from some very hot artists including Alex Gross, Liz McGrath, Tim Biskup, Derek Erdman and filmmaker/artist John Waters. If I had the Benjamins, Mr. Strangeways would happily fund Dina’s new home…I want ALL of these works. (Conservatively, I’ve spent about $250 on Dina shows over the years, not counting the booze, so I helped buy at least ONE of these pieces!)

Jack Balas: “Study for Sweep #29″ (Oil on canvas 24″ x 18” 2005) Collection of Grady West.

But, it’s not a secret to some of us that Mr. West has been an art hound over the years…he’s been frequently seen at local galleries, including Kirsten Anderson’s Roq LaRue in Belltown.

Check out all of Mr. West’s collection for sale over at his art blog, Wunderart.

Friese Undine: “A Woman and Naturist Men at Art Exhibit” (Acrylic on canvas 14”x 18” 2005) Collection of Grady West.

Derek Erdman: “Happy” (Latex on canvas 26½” x 28″ 2007) Collection of Grady West.
