That’s a quote from me because this weekend is one of those crazy mother truckin’ weekends where there is a buttload of events to choose from…your head might explode from all these options.
We gave a whole post to tonight’s opening of the 16th Seattle Lesbian & Gay Film Festival with the Opening Gala Film, “Dirty Girl” starring Juno Temple, Mary Steenburgen, Milla Jovovich, Dwight Yoakam, Tim McGraw and William H. Macy with music by the film’s “muse” Melissa Manchester, but we have to mention it one more time. Tickets are still available but hurry…the Gala’s usually sell out. Plus, at the party afterward at Fred Wildlife Refuge, the lovely Ms Manchester will perform a live set including an old hit or two and her new song from the film.
Meanwhile, over at The Wildrose, our buddies L.A. Kendall and Tony Burns celebrate the first year anniversary of “Lezbro” with Special Guests, Purple Crush!
Brooklyn bred electro duo, Purple Crush, infiltrated the club world in 2007 with the heavily remixed single “Shopping on the Dance floor”, released on their own label, Crushed Records. Along with wild live shows that spread across the US and Europe, they flooded the internet with saucy tracks, campy remixes and low budget yet infectiously entertaining music videos, becoming an established name in the underground dance world.
The fun starts at 9pm; the cover is only $5 and the drink specials are CHEAP!
For fans of brilliant live performance drag art, check out the one and only Miss Coco Peru in her two night stint at Re-bar with her one woman show, “There Comes a Time”. Tickets are only $15 and here’s some skinny on the show:
Re-Bar proudly announces the return of the celebrated monologist/singer/actor-actress Miss Coco Peru in an all-new, cabaret-style evening of stories, songs, lots of laughs, and a surprise or two!
Legions of Coco-philes know that Miss Peru’s shows fearlessly explore all facets of human nature, expertly turning darkness into illumination. This time, says Coco, I’ve decided to do something a little different. I wanted to try something a bit lighter, a night of pure fun with Coco.
Thus, Coco Peru in: There Comes a Time. Audiences can look forward to reports on her appearance at her friend Bea Arthurs memorial at New Yorks Majestic Theatre (my Broadway debut!), her turn as the original Angel Schunard in the backers audition of Rent, and those wryly pointed observations of life that only Miss Coco Peru can deliver.
Doors at 7pm, show at 8pm – do NOT miss this one!
Hopefully someone can persuade Miss Peru to come to Saturday night’s Midnight screening of her buddy and “Girls Will Be Girls” co-star Varla Jean Merman’s film “Varla Jean & The Mushroomheads”…that would be a HOOT!
If you’re REALLY in the mood to party with ANOTHER “Dirty Girl”, then it’s your lucky night because one of the NASTIEST, DIRTIEST Girls around, comedienne/singer Wendy Ho returns to Neighbours tonight for TWO shows at 11pm and 1am and the cover is only $5. It’s all part of Neighbours “Ghettodisco” night with DJ Hawthorne and it will be NASTY! We’re guessing the lovely Miss Ho will be doing some of her nasty hits: “Poop Noodle” and “Bitch, I Stole Yo’ Purse!” You’ll need to wash your ears out when you get home…girlfriend is ROUGH!
We’re not done! Pony lovers have the option of the monthly “Hussler” presented by the lovley Lu Ying and Friends at everyone’s favorite dirty little bar (I sense a “dirty” theme for tonight…) With Special Guests: Dj Baby J & Ade and hosted By: Terra Hymen & Moist Towelette with the Hussler Hunks Kerry & James Darling! DIRTY FUN!
Last one: “Lucifer’s Lounge” is a naughty (maybe a bit dirty in a big band sort of way?) night of cabaret at the Velvet Theater venue space in SoDo across from The Showbox/SoDo. Join Brishan and Joe of Lucifer’s Lounge @ The Mercury and Mr.D and Lady V. of The Blackmoore Traveling Picture Show for a night of Electro-Swing, Big Band, Crooners, Vegas, Vaudeville, 20’s-50’s, Swing, Caberet, chanson francaise…everything delightfully mid-century with a beat you can dance to! Check it out!
Wow…we’re exhausted just WRITING about all the stuff to do…pace yourselves, people!
