MANY of us at SGS could give a rat’s hairy ass about the Super Bowel (yes, that typo was intentional…) but we know some of you get a woody for it, or at least for the commercials and the general excuse to get drunk at a party. And, of course this year offers the debatable delights of our Material Girl, Madonna performing at the halftime show to sell her new album. If you’re so unpopular that no one invited you to a Super Bowl party, and you’re bummed out that Tribe shut down, here’s some options for Super Bowl viewing/drinking for this Sunday:
RPlace: The Biggest Gayest Bowl Game Ever. A fundraiser for Emerald City Softball. Happy hour ALL DAY with hot dogs, nachos, chili, etc. Open at 1pm. 21+
Cuff Complex: Super Bowl Party on 7 TV screens. Door prizes, bar snacks, drink specials, Noon. 21+
Madison Pub: Super Bowl Party at Noon. Free pool, peanuts & $1 off pitchers. 21+
Purr Super Bowl Party starting at 10am with 15 plasma TVs. Food and drink specials all day! 21+
Elite Bar: Super Bowl Party at Noon. “Enter as Strangers – Leave as Friends” 21+
CC Attle’s: Super Bowl Party at 2pm. Draft beers on special and hot dogs for your oral pleasure. 21+
Diesel: Super Bowl Party at Noon. Bears and bikers can watch on their dual projector screens with drink specials and their house recipe $5 Make You Holla Bloody Mary’s. 21+
OutWest Bar: Doors open at 2:30pm with drink specials and special friends.
Lobby Bar will be showing the Super Bowl with drink specials until 7pm but mostly watching for the commercials, of course. 21+
Superbowl Commercial Party @ Bar Myx in Everett. $4 Touchdown shots everytime there is a touchdown. Homemade chili at halftime and Madonna does the halftime show! Noon. 21+
Benchwarmer in Kent: Super Bowl Party at Noon. Beer specials and $7 all you can eat Mexican buffet at 2pm. Free giveaways, raffles and more. 21+
Wildrose: Join the women of the ‘rose for an all day Super Bowl Party at Noon. $5 breakfast until 3pm, chili dog specials and Happy Hour all day! 21+
If the thought of participating in this annual American tradition makes you want to hurl, then here’s some alternative options for Sunday including lots of theater, and the debut of CHAOTIC ELECTRICITY a music/drag fashion event at the Electric Tea Garden (above the Artificial Limb store) produced by our own “New Queer on the Block” Brian Peterson. And, we should also note that our friend/contributor DJ NARK is also debuting a new night of humpy musical fun, “Bottom 40” at The Cuff Complex. Check one, or all of these events out.
I Am My Own Wife @ Seattle Rep Theatre. An eccentric German transvestite hides from the Nazis in plain sight as a woman. More than 30 characters—all played by the masterful Nick Garrison. 7:30pm.
Don Quixote @ Pacific Northwest Ballet. Men in tights, swirling capes, flashing fans, clicking castanets and some dancing cacti means a lavishly fabulous show 7:30pm. All Ages
Xanadu @ Tacoma Musical Playhouse. This hilarious, roller skating, musical adventure 2pm, $27.
Oklahoma! @ 5th Avenue Theatre. The musical that changed everything. A remarkable cast and an extraordinary collaboration with renowned choreographer Donald Byrd and Spectrum Dance Theatre bring this classic to vibrant life. 1:30pm.
