Neighbour’s beloved ’80’s themed dance party ROCK LOBSTER announced they were biting the dust last November and THOUSANDS of devoted fans popped in to say good bye. (Well, 1200…that’s a LOT!) The promoters got so excited they decided to keep on going with weekly events until reality set in: The hardcore fans of ’80’s music who actually lived through the era are getting a wee bit old to be partying to the wee hours EVERY week. (Yes, Mr. Strangeways included.)
I’ll also toot my own horn…I sent DJ Trent Von the current producer/dj for Rock Lobster (and its replacement, Pandora’s Boxxx) an email last year after the end of the Lobster suggesting the event might work better as a quarterly special event…that way us olduns could rest up and prepare for it. I don’t know if my wise words had anything to do with it, but I’m thrilled to report that the Lobster IS back and returning to Neighbours this coming Thursday, March 29, 2012 starting at 9pm. Polish your pointy boots and get out those parachute pants!

Established 1995 at Neighbours Nightclub as a ’80s Alternative / New Wave retro theme night.
Rock Lobster, after a 17 years run, became one of the LONGEST running ’80s nights in the country (if not the WORLD). The OFFICIAL END (as far as I’m concerned) came Nov 10, 2011 with over 1200 in attendance.
Due to the OVERWHELMING response by the public, Rock Lobster continues as a “one off” EVENT night at Neighbours.
