“Gayby” Star Matthew Wilkas Is Also A Web Slinger…

Rising young actor Matthew Wilkas won’t be here for the Seattle premiere of his film, “Gayby” which screens tonight as the “Gay-LA!” selection for SIFF 2012 at The Egyptian (7pm with afterparty to follow at Lobby Bar; tickets HERE!) but we wish he could sling his way across country to attend. The actor is currently on Broadway as a co-star and Spiderman understudy for the notorious musical, “Spiderman: Turn Off The Dark” which is surprisingly still running despite hideous reviews, numerous accidents, and some truly awful music.

The Passport blog has an interview with the actor; here’s a sampling:

If I could live anywhere else in the world it would be: I used to think I could never live anywhere else. But that’s changed for me now that I’ve been here in NYC a little over ten(!) years. I love San Francisco. Los Angeles. Most of California is pretty fantastic actually. And I certainly wouldn’t kick Paris or London out of bed!

Board shorts, speedo or skinny dip? Board shorts. I’m pretty modest (in spite of what these pictures might suggest…).

My workout “secret” is: I’m always mixing it up. Yoga, running, spinning, weight-lifting—I think constantly surprising my body and muscles has benefited me most.

When I’m looking for a date, nothing attracts me more than: Someone who has a real passion for SOMETHING—I don’t care if it’s their job or a hobby. I just think having something that you love to do is a huge plus.

Good to know…though the board shorts answer is disappointing.
