Ja…the fjords will be alive with the sound of…Norwegian Men singing in harmony.
No, YLVIS isn’t coming to town (dammit) and we won’t find out what the “fox says”. BUT, if you love gorgy choral music sung by masculine Scandinavian He-Man types, you’ll want to check out the big SANGERFEST at McCaw Hall on Saturday, June 21st as robust singers from the West Coast gather in Seattle to joyously sing the praises of Norway. You can grab tickets HERE! (It’s VERY family friendly…bring the kids!)
Much more on this deliciously virile event!
Song is an important community tradition for Norwegians and what better way to experience this than to come listen to a Sangerfest at McCaw Hall! This will be the Pacific Coast Norwegian Singers Association’s 105th first event in Everett in 1903. Over 100 singers from Norwegian men’s choirs up and down the West Coast will be on stage, along with Choppers Brass Quintet and several guest artists, including the Bel Canto Children’s Choir.
“The program will include a variety of classic Norwegian music,” said G Robert Johnston, director of the The Norwegian Male Chorus of Seattle, “but you will also hear some contemporary English songs as well.” Mr. Johnston will also be joined by co-conductor, Dr. Alf Lunder Knudsen.
Seattle last hosted a Sangerfest in 2006, so this is the year to get a ticket!
