Hillary “Wow! I’m really good at sticking my Jimmy Choo clad foot in my mouth!” Clinton has really jumped the shark with her latest blunder. Madame Secretary/former Senator/former First Lady/former Goldwater Republican Hillary Clinton is attending the funeral of her “sister in arms”, former First Lady Nancy Reagan who died this past Sunday, March 6, 2016 at the age of 94. Mrs. Clinton is, of course, currently running a tight race against Senator Bernie Sanders to become the Democratic nominee in the 2016 presidential race. Naturally, reporters covering the funeral are more than eager to get a quote from Clinton while she’s attending the funeral for Mrs. Reagan being held at the Reagan Library in Simi Valley, California.
MSNBC snagged Clinton for an interview and the former First Lady graciously remarked on Nancy Reagan’s controversial support of stem cell research to treat Alzheimers sufferers after her husband former president Ronald Reagan was diagnosed with the disease. The official Republican Party platform is to be opposed to all stem cell research for any reason.
But, without being prompted by the reporter, Mrs. Clinton brought up the subject of the AIDS Crisis in the 1980s and made this statement, via Gawker:
“It may be hard for your viewers to remember how difficult it was for people to talk about HIV/AIDS in the 1980s. And because of both President and Mrs. Reagan, in particular, Mrs. Reagan, we started national conversation when before no one would talk about it, no one wanted to do anything about it, and that too is something that really appreciated, with her very effective, low-key advocacy, but it penetrated the public conscience and people began to say ‘Hey, we have to do something about this too.’”
– Hillary Clinton
Wow.
What a stupid, offensive and untruthful thing to say.
Especially for a woman running for the Democratic nomination to become president and supposedly wanting to count on the votes/campaign contributions of millions of LGBTQ Americans who survived the AIDS Crisis and watched thousands of gay (and, non gay) friends and family members die because the Reagan Administration deliberately ignored the devastating pandemic. (Or, just laughed at it…)
Why would you bring this topic up at the funeral of a woman who many queer people hate as a symbol of gay oppression?
WHY would you even say such a thing, that’s not true? Or, was Hillary Clinton implying the Reagan Administration’s “Do Nothing” Policy was a “good thing” because it got people angry about all their friends/relatives dying horrible deaths? I mean, it DID conversations…angry ones about how much people hated the Reagans, their administration and the Republican Party.
WHY THE FUCK IS A SUPPOSED DEMOCRAT SAYING OUTRAGEOUSLY UNTRUTHFUL THINGS ABOUT REPUBLICANS WHO CONTRIBUTED TO THE DEATHS OF THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE?
This is inexcusable and further proof that Mrs. Clinton is not the right person to be the Democratic nominee for President in 2016. Her continued support for right wing causes, her dedication to helping her Wall Street backers, her lack of empathy and support for leftist, socially progressive causes all point to the fact that the “Blue Dog” conservative branch of the Democratic Party, that both Hillary and Bill Clinton represent, needs to be crushed.
And, Hillary Clinton owes the LGBTQ population (and everyone who lost a loved one to AIDS) an apology and an explanation for her inflammatory remarks made today.
UPDATE: And, quickly realizing she made a grave mistake, the Clinton Campaign issues a public apology via the Hillary Clinton Facebook page:
Her original inane statement was made by a woman who’s supposedly a professional diplomat. A statement that stupid and unfeeling MIGHT be forgivable from a young, inexperienced politician…MAYBE. From an almost 70 year old professional politician running for the Democratic nomination for President of the United States, it’s inexcusable. It’s like a back stabber apologizing to you as you bleed out on the floor…”Oh, my bad! Didn’t mean to do that…hope we’re good now!”
Mrs. Clinton’s poor decision making skills today have lost her votes (and donations) she desperately needed from the LGBTQ community.
She is not a true ally for LGBTQ people.
