Sooooooo, Sensible Theatre Company is Seattle’s newest queer theater company and they’re already hard at work on their first full stage production, PAGEANT, the hilarious drag beauty pageant spoof/musical which debuts June 15th at ACT Theatre (tix here!)

Sensible co-founders/actors/producers Paul Flanagan and Jared Michael Brown got me drunk the other day at Solo Bar on Roy Street (all it took a was a sangria and some bacon wrapped dates; I’m a cheap date) and filled me in on some of the poo on the show, which just announced their fabulous cast, as well as their final big fundraiser for Sensible and Pageant…it’s the SENSIBLE DEBUTANTE BALL and it’s happening this coming Monday, May 21st at Fred Wildlife Refuge on Capitol Hill.

Yes, I know it’s a MONDAY but so many of you complain there’s NOTHING to do on a Monday in Gay Seattle (well…karaoke) and now you have a hella fun event that’s only $20 (that’s a movie with a tiny drink or a ticket to a meh local drag show…)!!!

Here’s more poo…it IS a Debutante Ball so DRESS UP! You don’t have to put on a dress, make up and heels, but we know you got some cray cray fun costume stuff crammed in your closet…a cape and hat with a snazzy tie. A glittery pair of disco shorts. A rhinestone studded jockstrap or bra. Or both.

BE CREATIVE! GAYS INVENTED THIS STUFF!!! BUY TIX FOR THE BALL HERE!!!!!

Da poo:

May 22nd is our first day of rehearsal for the cast of PAGEANT.
So, May 21st: We Let Loose and have a massive party.

Instead of staying in on a Monday nigh and wondering what you’re doing with your life:

BE THE FIRST TO MEET THE ENTIRE CAST OF PAGEANT!

Our Sensible Debutante Ball is the social event of the season. We present to you the Ladies & Gentlemen of PAGEANT, complete with a grand entrance down a staircase, a parade to show off their beyond gorgeous gowns, and live entertainment to showcase their many splendid talents.

Tickets are a Sensible $20.00

1. Grab something fierce from your closet,
2. Grab a Frilly AF Cocktail (Or 5),
3. Practice your ‘YAS, KWEEN’ for your favorite Pageant gal,
4. Dance your face off with DJ MIXX AMERICA
5. Know that your supporting our talented Queer artists in Seattle and beyond by purchasing your ticket and coming out.

ALL PROCEEDS GO TOWARD OUR PRODUCTION OF PAGEANT! (obvi).

As the Editorial Director/Co-Owner, Michael Strangeways writes, edits and does about a million other jobs for Seattle Gay Scene, Puget Sound's most visited LGBTQ news, arts and entertainment website now celebrating its 14th year as a media outlet. A semi-proud Midwesterner by birth, he's lived in Seattle since 2000. He's also a film producer who would like you to check out the Jinkx Monsoon documentary, "Drag Becomes Him" now available on Amazon.com. In his spare time, he gets slightly obsessive about his love for old movies, challenging theater, "otters", vodka, chocolate, "I,Claudius", Lizzie Borden, real books made out of paper, disaster films, show tunes, Weimar era Germany, flea markets, pop surrealistic art, the sex lives of Hollywood actors both living and dead, kitties, chicken fried steak, haute couture and David Bowie. But, not necessarily in that order.
