STG Announces Morrissey For October Show At WaMu Theatre

May 14, 2019• byMichael Strangeways

Oh, that problematic Morrissey….

Everyone’s favorite moody crush object from the 80s/90s is returning to Seattle later this year. Seattle Theatre Group just announced the morose one will be (hopefully) playing an October 1, 2019 gig at WaMu Theatre with opening act Interpol.

I say “Problematic” because Mr. Morrissey has said some things in recent years which have gotten him in trouble including supporting nationalistic British political groups…while also criticizing Donald Trump. The “Moz” has never been shy about making political statements over the years, zapping everyone from the Royal Family to Margaret Thatcher to New Labor.

And, the “Hopefully” is because Morrissey has missed shows in recent years due to a variety of excuses including his health and the health of his mum.

Regardless, we’ll always crush on the MUSIC and his delightfully calculated ambiguity.

AND, he sounds good on his new single, “Morning Starship”! The voice is still sounding strong!

Tix on sale this Friday, May 17th.

About the Author: Michael Strangeways

As the Editorial Director/Co-Owner, Michael Strangeways writes, edits and does about a million other jobs for Seattle Gay Scene, Puget Sound's most visited LGBTQ news, arts and entertainment website now celebrating its 14th year as a media outlet. A semi-proud Midwesterner by birth, he's lived in Seattle since 2000. He's also a film producer who would like you to check out the Jinkx Monsoon documentary, "Drag Becomes Him" now available on Amazon.com. In his spare time, he gets slightly obsessive about his love for old movies, challenging theater, "otters", vodka, chocolate, "I,Claudius", Lizzie Borden, real books made out of paper, disaster films, show tunes, Weimar era Germany, flea markets, pop surrealistic art, the sex lives of Hollywood actors both living and dead, kitties, chicken fried steak, haute couture and David Bowie. But, not necessarily in that order.
