MoPop Gets All Pridey With Adult Drag Camp and Other Cool Events

June 1, 2022• byMichael Strangeways

Seattle’s VERY unique Museum of Pop Culture always joins in Seattle’s LGBTQ+ celebrations every year with fun events and this year is no exception.

They’re offering a fun Drag Camp for Adults this coming Saturday, June 4th and an amazing bike ride/history tour on Sunday, June 12th and an under 21 LGBTQ+ Youth Dance Mixer on Thursday, June 23rd during Pride Week itself.

They’re also opening a wonderful new exhibition this month… Ruth E. Carter: Afrofuturism is Costume Design, looks at the brilliant costume designs of Ruth E. Carter, the Academy Award winning costume designer for Black Panther. For tickets and information, visit MoPOP.org. There’ll be an opening night party for this show on Friday, June 17th.

And, this friendly message from MoPop:

Rock the rainbow this summer by celebrating with MoPOP during Pride 2022 in Seattle. We’ve only got one rule: show up in whatever way allows you to be your truest self.

We recognize that right now it’s not easy out there for those of us in the queer community. MoPOP is dedicated to celebrating the growth, strength, and absolute fabulousness that sets the LGBTQIA+ community apart — especially when it comes to providing a safe space for new generations of sashayers and slayers.

About the Author: Michael Strangeways

As the Editorial Director/Co-Owner, Michael Strangeways writes, edits and does about a million other jobs for Seattle Gay Scene, Puget Sound's most visited LGBTQ news, arts and entertainment website now celebrating its 14th year as a media outlet. A semi-proud Midwesterner by birth, he's lived in Seattle since 2000. He's also a film producer who would like you to check out the Jinkx Monsoon documentary, "Drag Becomes Him" now available on Amazon.com. In his spare time, he gets slightly obsessive about his love for old movies, challenging theater, "otters", vodka, chocolate, "I,Claudius", Lizzie Borden, real books made out of paper, disaster films, show tunes, Weimar era Germany, flea markets, pop surrealistic art, the sex lives of Hollywood actors both living and dead, kitties, chicken fried steak, haute couture and David Bowie. But, not necessarily in that order.
