Seattle Pride Kicks Off On Saturday June 1st With ‘Pride in the Park’

It’s almost here… Yup, it’s already Pride season in Seattle and everybody and their Aunt Tillie is planning an event sometime during the month of June or even later in the summer. The first biggish event is from Seattle Out & Proud the producers of Seattle Pride’s annual downtown parade on Pride Sunday itself, June 30th this year. But, they also do other events including their annual Pride in the Park event which takes place in Volunteer Park at the top of Capitol Hill…it’s partly to honor the longtime celebration of Seattle Pride in that park, which was the festival centerpiece for many years before it moved to Seattle Center almost 20 years ago!

This year’s Pride in the Park has been moved up a bit to Saturday, June 1st from its usual spot mid month. Let’s hope the weather cooperates…June is a fidgety month for Seattle weather!

Here’s all the dish from Seattle Pride about this year’s FREE and very family friendly event which goes from Noon until 7pm:

Seattle Pride in the Park, produced by Seattle Pride®, will kick off Seattle’s 50th annual Pride Month celebration on Saturday, June 1 at Volunteer Park on Capitol Hill.

Seattle Pride in the Park will feature a can’t-miss lineup of LGBTQIA2S+ performances, a dance-focused stage with an adjacent alcohol garden (21+), food trucks, local nonprofit booths, queer vendors, and more.

The free event also includes plenty of family friendly fare – including Drag Queen Storytime – and a teen space designed and hosted by youth in a collaborative internship between Seattle’s LGBTQ Center and Seattle Pride.

Accessibility accommodations, such as priority seating, ASL interpreters, ADA restrooms, and designated assistants to support individuals in accessing food and beverages will be available.

GIVEAWAY RULES & ENTRY When you RSVP for Pride in the Park, you will enter into a random drawing to win tickets to see RuPaul’s All Star Drag Race Show! Winners will be announced and contacted by a Pride Staff member on Monday June 3rd.

He's also a film producer who would like you to check out the Jinkx Monsoon documentary, "Drag Becomes Him" now available on Amazon.com. In his spare time, he gets slightly obsessive about his love for old movies, challenging theater, "otters", vodka, chocolate, "I,Claudius", Lizzie Borden, real books made out of paper, disaster films, show tunes, Weimar era Germany, flea markets, pop surrealistic art, the sex lives of Hollywood actors both living and dead, kitties, chicken fried steak, haute couture and David Bowie. But, not necessarily in that order.
