Don’t Forget…Kitsap Does Pride, Too!

June 18, 2024• byMichael Strangeways

There’s LGBTQ+ Pride all over, all summer long and one of the oldest events happens every July over in beautiful Kitsap County! Their big events happen the weekend of July 19-21 with the main festival on Saturday the 20th at the Bremerton Fairgrounds, 1400 Fairgrounds Rd NW, Bremerton, Washington.

They have other events including a movie screening happening Sunday, June 23rd AND Kitsap Pride will march in the Seattle Pride Parade on Sunday, June 30th.

They could also use volunteers to put on their events! If you live in Kitsap County or close by, think about volunteering…it’s a great way to meet new people and give back to the community. Go here: https://www.eventeny.com/events/volunteer/application/?id=5779

More poo!

Just a reminder that today (Sunday) we have a special screening of THE BIRDCAGE with a live drag show before. Doors open at 5PM – Bar with ID. We will start with live drag performances at 6PM featuring Sativa, Athena, and Clara Voyance. $15Film follows immediately after show at about 6:30.

We will be in the Seattle Pride Parade on the 30th. We are building a float and looking for volunteers to walk along in the parade. Be on site at 2:00 PM next Sunday. We will take the float over on the 11:10 ferry. It is a fun and positive experience. Sign up to Walk with Pride.  Link has been updated.

Our Pride weekend should kick off with a fun event on the evening of July 19th. Saturday is the Festival. Sunday we are working on a nice wrap up event. Details coming very soon.

2024 Theme: AUTHENTIC

Step into the spotlight of authenticity at Kitsap Pride 2024, where we delve into the profound impact of being true to oneself. Scientific studies reveal that authenticity transcends mere emotion; it’s a fundamental aspect of well-being, even surpassing the depths of love itself.

Join us on July 20th as we explore the transformative potential of embracing our true selves. Come and participate in this day of unity, acceptance, and genuine connection, where authenticity reigns supreme. Let’s celebrate the beauty of being exactly who we are, and ignite a ripple effect of empowerment in our communities.

Don’t miss out on this extraordinary journey of self-discovery and acceptance!

As the Editorial Director/Co-Owner, Michael Strangeways writes, edits and does about a million other jobs for Seattle Gay Scene, Puget Sound's most visited LGBTQ news, arts and entertainment website now celebrating its 14th year as a media outlet. A semi-proud Midwesterner by birth, he's lived in Seattle since 2000. He's also a film producer who would like you to check out the Jinkx Monsoon documentary, "Drag Becomes Him" now available on Amazon.com. In his spare time, he gets slightly obsessive about his love for old movies, challenging theater, "otters", vodka, chocolate, "I,Claudius", Lizzie Borden, real books made out of paper, disaster films, show tunes, Weimar era Germany, flea markets, pop surrealistic art, the sex lives of Hollywood actors both living and dead, kitties, chicken fried steak, haute couture and David Bowie. But, not necessarily in that order.
