Seattle’s LGBTQ Commission is looking for new blood…both young AND old. The advisory council funded by the City of Seattle represents LGBTQ+ community members and their interests. Members are chosen in a variety of ways (the mayor and city council can appoint members) including by the simple method of just applying to join the board, who meet once a month.
Apparently, the board would like to see more representation from two different demos…the rather young and those at the other end of the spectrum, the older and more experienced. In the last week the commission has released two separate notices seeking out folks from both those groups.
For the younger, they did post a desired age range of 18 to 24, (which would be Gen Z) but no equivalent range was given for the older demographic. Judging by the photo they used in their social media post, we’re guessing they’re seeking out folks over 60 or so but don’t be afraid to put your name forward if you’re a bit outside those ranges. I don’t think they’ll throw your application in the trash if your’re 25 or 57.
