Ann-Margret Rocks The Egyptian For Bye, Bye Birdie Screening

September 20, 2024• byMichael Strangeways

The original Kim from the classic Hollywood musical, BYE BYE BIRDIE will bop her way into SIFF Cinema’s Egyptian Theatre on Saturday September 28th for a special screening of the film! The iconic Ann-Margret will be present for a Q and A after the screening where she’ll answer all your questions about her amazing 60+ year long career that included starring in films with Elvis, squirming in baked beans for the film of “Tommy” and surviving a terrifying fall off a stage during a live performance shattering her pelvis! This lady is a SURVIVOR! Oh, and she’s beloved for her appearance on the old cartoon “The Flintstones” where she played “Ann-Margrock”! We love her!

Bye Bye Birdie: When rock star and teenage heart-throb Conrad Birdie gets drafted, the nation’s teenagers go haywire and Conrad’s manager, Albert (Dick Van Dyke), faces unemployment. So Albert and his girlfriend (Janet Leigh) organize a nationwide contest in which one lucky girl wins a farewell kiss from Conrad on the Ed Sullivan Show. Kim McAfee (Ann-Margret) turns out to be the lucky teenager and Conrad’s whole entourage moves into her quiet, Midwestern home much to the chagrin of her ever irritable father (Paul Lynde) and her jealous boyfriend (Bobby Rydell). The result is chaos and a series of hilarious romantic complications.
