Stuff To Do: Monday, 9/12/11: Ricochet at Arabica Lounge

September 12, 2011• bySeattle Gay Scene

Finally, something NEW to do on the Hill AND it’s entertaining AND for a good cause. Fathom: The Performance Collective headed by Devin Bannon is a new arts group in town and one of their missions is to support other artists and their projects by raising money and awareness. AND, they’ve started a monthly performance series called “Ricochet” to be held in various venues, to get the word out about their mission and help out a deserving artist or arts group.

The first Ricochet is TONIGHT, Monday, September 12, 2011 at Arabica Lounge, 1550 E Olive Way, next door to Bus Stop. The suggested cover is only $5 and the fun starts at 8pm and they have a great line-up of talent for the first show, including  Waxie Moon, Jinkx Monsoon, Alicia Amiri and many other brilliant performers. Here’s some poo on the event:

Each Ricochet Recital will be fundraising for an arts project or arts group, and this particular show will be raising money for “The Mormon Bird Play” at Washington Ensemble Theatre, written and directed by Roger Benington, opening October 28th. Each recital will have a loose “theme” relating to the focus project. Because this month’s is The Mormon Bird Play, the theme will be “The Cult”.

Due to Arabica’s philosophy of free art, the cover will only be a suggested donation of $5 entry. They will be serving beer and wine for purchase. And we will have auction and raffle prizes. So there are plenty of ways to help out your fellow performers!

The whole mission of Ricochet is to have a regular and sustainable performing arts fundraising system built into a live performance explosion. Unlike other similar models, we get to do perform whatever we’d like, and support whomever we choose. If you are involved or will be involved in a project that would be a good candidate for Ricochet to raise funds for in the upcoming months, please let us know.
