ALLONS-Y! GERONIMO! Anglicon: The Regeneration Britishly invades the Doubletree by Hilton Seattle Airport Hotel this weekend!
Sadly, I don’t think the hotel will be bigger on the inside. But it will be jam-packed with BBC-oriented nerdy things for your enjoyment. Guests of Honor/celebs include Jon Davey, Katy Manning, Sophie Aldred, and…wait for it…the sixth Doctor, Colin Baker! Also, this guy:
Anglicon is pleased to announce that Todd J. McCaffrey will be the MC for Special Events at Anglicon 2015, The Regeneration.
Todd is an author and the son of The Dragonriders of Pern author Anne McCaffrey. Although born (and currently living) in the U.S., Todd has strong ties to Ireland, where he lived during his teen years and where he went to University. Best known for continuing his mother’s Dragonriders of Pern book series, Todd has had numerous titles published in his own right.~Anglicon website.
Doubletree is even serving drink specials, for when you’ve had enough tea. Or fish fingers and custard.
I’m most excited about Geek Girls Collectibles in the merch room! And Miss Haley Bombshell Boutique. And Tiny Rebel Games. Events include a masquerade (because every literary and halfway UK-themed convention should have one), dancing, a music hall (that’s “vaudeville” to us Yanks), game shows, a charity auction, and even a flash mob! Of course there’ll be a gaming room, because of reasons. Sunday will see a banquet where you can dine with the guests of honor! Squee!
Panels galore will celebrate our fearless Doctor (ten years since the new series with Christopher Eccleston!), Sherlock Holmes, Torchwood, and all of the best BBC you’re not currently watching. Here’s hoping for some Penny Dreadful and Orphan Black fans to show their love, too. Usual suspect panel topics will cover writing, humor, and cosplay, among other things. Katy Manning and Sophie Aldred will have one specifically to discuss what it means to be a Doctor’s companion and how the role has changed over the years.
This Con should be a ton of fun, so getchyer nerd fez on as a break from Pride Month! I don’t believe there’ll be a lot of running during the event, but you should run there. Away from the angels. “Don’t even blink.”
P.S. The EMP, whose Infinite Worlds exhibit carries a Cyberman and Dalek display, is running a special!
And now, your moment of zen:
