Three Dollar Bill Cinema released the line-up for their very special 20th Anniversary edition of the Seattle Lesbian & Gay Film Festival this past Thursday. (Yay! One more year and SLGFF can legally drink!!!! Maybe move out of Mom’s basement! Finish College!!!) This year’s festival opens Thursday, October 8th at the Egyptian on Capitol Hill with the Julianne Moore/Ellen Page lesbian drama FREEHELD and continues through Sunday, October 18th’s closing night Gala of OUT TO WIN the gay sports documentary at AMC Pacific Place. In between: dozens of fantastic LGBTQ films screening at the Egyptian, Pacific Place, Northwest Film Forum and live events at Re-bar and 12th Avenue Arts, the new home for Three Dollar Bill Cinema.
We’ll have (much) more on the films in the days ahead but it behooves us to mention a couple that will be screening including a trio of locally made queer films. Our own beloved Jinkx Monsoon documentary DRAG BECOMES HIM (Full Disclosure: Mr. Strangeways is a producer on this film) returns for its second screening in Seattle after its sold out world premiere last April at the Cinerama…this time it’ll screen at the Egyptian on Friday, October 9th with after party to follow at St. John’s on Pike Street. Also returning for a second stint is the locally made documentary THE GLAMOUR & THE SQUALOR about celebrated local DJ Marco Collins. And, screening in full and in a full feature length format, Wes Hurley’s crazy camp web series CAPITOL HILL SEASON 2 will have a very special screening on Saturday, October 10th at the Egyptian…we’re guessing TONS of its stars will be around that night to support the show.
There’s also the fun live hosted campy film screening of Sylvia O’Stayformore’s Night With Jacqueline! which stars Seattle’s own “Hostess with the Mostest” Sylvia O’Stayformore presenting and commenting on classically camp films based on the turgidly trashy campy books by novelist Jacqueline Susann!
More!
Sylvia O’Stayformore has joined her effervescent drag performance with the brilliance of Collide-O-Scope Video. Her first sold-out project, “Come Fly with Me,” was a huge success in Seattle earlier this year. Now Sylvia does it again with a full evening of Jackie Susann’s films—VALLEY OF THE DOLLS, LOVE MACHINE, and ONCE IS NOT ENOUGH—all mashed into one debaucherous event! Sylvia will be your love therapist as she guides you through these high-camp movies brimming with pill popping, booze drinking, and drag song-and-dance fun. Come in your best Pucci attire and sign up for prizes!
From Re-bar’s Collide-O-Scope, the adorably talented Michael Anderson and Shane Wahlund put together this mash up and it’s all happening on Thursday, October 15th at Northwest Film Forum which only holds about one hundred seats, so grab your tickets NOW for this fun event!
To see the schedule for ALL the films and events, head over to the website to choose your films and buy your passes or individual tickets.
