Featuring a brief history of LEGO bricks, this fun international traveling exhibition by Museums of History NSW and Flying Fish, invites visitors of all ages to explore the fascinating world of architecture through the lens of one of the world’s most beloved toys. From towering skyscrapers to iconic landmarks,Towers of Tomorrow showcases stunning LEGO brick replicas of 20 of the most famous buildings from across the globe.
Step into a world where creativity knows no bounds and marvel at intricate models of the Empire State Building, the Sydney Opera House, and the Burj Khalifa, all meticulously crafted with LEGO bricks. The exhibition spotlights a breathtaking array of architectural wonders designed by Australian LEGO designer Ryan McNaught, one of only twenty-one LEGO Certified Professionals worldwide. Each architectural wonder offers a unique glimpse into the innovation, engineering, and cultural significance behind these iconic structures.
In addition to the stunning displays, visitors will have the opportunity to unleash their inner architect in the interactive Build Zone. Construct your own skyscraper, bridge, or cityscape using thousands of LEGO bricks, and see your creations come to life alongside those of other builders.
Guests will also discover how LEGO toys have left an enduring mark on the lives (and sometimes the bare feet) of youth and adult fans alike. From its origins in a small carpentry workshop, the LEGO company has grown into the world’s largest toy manufacturer.
Ole Kirk Kristiansen started his first carpentry shop in Billund, Denmark in 1916 where he made building materials, furniture, and toys out of wood. In 1932, Kristiansen founded the LEGO Group after he decided to concentrate exclusively on making toys for children. He thought children deserved high-quality toys made of the finest materials, so they would last for many years of play. The name “LEGO” was used officially for the first time in 1936. It is an abbreviation of the Danish words LEG GODT, meaning “Play Well.”
Towers of Tomorrow with LEGO® Bricks will run to September 22, 2024, offering families, LEGO enthusiasts, and architecture buffs alike the chance to experience the magic of these iconic structures in a whole new way.
