Are You Ready For Some Rugby?

August 5, 2024• byMichael Strangeways

‘Tis almost the season for sweaty sporty fun as Seattle Quake, our own gay rugby organization prepares to launch its new fall season. If you’re interested in getting involved, they’re having a RUGBY 101 get together on Saturday, August 10th where you can meet the other players and ask all the questions you need to ask before committing! And, they’ve even answered a few questions down below!

It’s all happening at the very centrally located Bobby Morris Playfield at Cal Anderson Park on Capitol Hill from 3pm to 5pm. It’s gonna be a scorcher so dress appropriately and bring water!

Also a reminder that the annual Jockstraps and Glitter kickball fundraiser match between Quake Rugby and The Sisters Of Perpetual Indulgence, The Abbey of St. Joan is happening on August 24th at 1 pm also at Bobby Morris Playfield…this year’s event supports Lambert House! Come cheer on both great organizations followed by an after party!

What if I can’t make 101?:
Not a problem! We accept new players at practice any time!

I’m worried I’m too *insert excuse here* for rugby?
Rugby is a sport for all! On and off the pitch, Quake rugby is an inclusive team and is committed to growing the game and helping to represent traditionally underrepresented communities! On the pitch, there is a position for everyone, no matter what shape or size! Most Quake players have never played rugby before they join, and many have never played a contact sport or even a team sport before! Everyone is welcome!
