A recent wave of attacks, muggings and violent crime on Capitol Hill, much of it centered near Seattle Central Community College and Cal Anderson Park has both gay and straight residents of the Hill concerned. Two weeks ago, entertainer Robbie Turner was viciously mugged near SCCC and community outrage at that attack led to the creation of the “Capitol Hill Anti-Crime/Violence March & Rally”, a peaceful demonstration to demand a solution to the seemingly rising epidemic of violent crimes on the Hill and specifically near the Pike/Pine corridor. The event is scheduled for today, Wednesday, May 22, 2013 from 6pm to 8pm at Seattle Central.
More details:
The CAPITOL HILL ANTI-CRIME/VIOLENCE MARCH & RALLY will also feature the launch of a neighborhood business watch program, BLOCK WATCH.

And, while we think a march/rally can draw attention to a problem, it’s also a good idea to directly make your voice heard to elected officials and the Powers That Be…here’s how you can do that:
Use the energy generated by your anger to do something productive, and fight against something difficult. CONTACT Mayor Mike McGinn, the Seattle City Council, Seattle Central Community College (numerous attacks seem to happen ON or near their campus) and The Seattle Police Department and DEMAND a solution to escalating violence on Capitol Hill.
