Spend your paycheck at Whole Foods without feeling guilty on Chicken Soup Brigade Day.

Local Whole Foods grocery stores are teaming up with Lifelong AIDS Alliance for a special promotion to raise funds for Chicken Soup Brigade, the organization that provides nutrition services to people with AIDS/HIV. Tomorrow, Tuesday, January 10 is “Community 5% Day” at area Whole Foods stores, (Bellevue, Interbay, Redmond, Roosevelt Square, Westlake & Denny) and 5% of your purchase will be donated to Lifelong/Chicken Soup to help feed hungry people in our community. It’s a good cause and while we know Whole Foods isn’t a viable option for folks living on tight budgets, we also know MANY of our readers do buy their gourmet/organic food stuffs at the popular chain. And, yes, it’s an obvious ploy to get back into liberal’s good graces after some PR snafus last year with the CEO of Whole Foods and his controversial opinions about Healthcare, (he was against President Obama’s healthcare bill) but we’ll give them the benefit of the doubt. If you don’t have an issue with their CEO’s personal views, then regular well-heeled shoppers of Whole Foods should do your weekly shopping on Tuesday and give a little something back to the community while you munch on your $9 pint of berries and Kobe steak tartar fritters.

But, you might bring the leftovers over to your po’ friend’s houses and earn double karma points…
