She was just here a couple of weeks ago, but due to popular demand, (Really…she should have WON Season 2 of RuPaul’s Drag Race!) the divine diva from Boston is returning to Seattle, and R Place specifically, just in time for Seattle Gay Pride 2011. The bar/nightclub just announced on their Facebook page that Jujubee will make a return engagement on Saturday, June 25 for a special Pride appearance. No other details have been released and tickets are not available for sale at this time.
The various stars of RuPaul’s Drag Race are really taking over the LGBTQ night life scene all over the U.S. This must please Ms RuPaul; one of her goals with the show was to raise awareness of the richness of drag culture and to bring it back to life after falling into obscurity as younger audiences rejected the traditional drag scene as out of date and politically incorrect. While “punk” style, performance art drag shows like Trannyshack flourished, mainstream drag had started to falter along the wayside but Drag Race has seemed to give it a burst of new life.
We’ll keep ya posted!
