Ding, Dong…the Wicked Old DADT is dead…well, almost.

September 19, 2011• bySeattle Gay Scene

Art: Etienne

In less than 12 hours, the infamous “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” anti-LGBTQ policy that barred queer people from serving openly in the US military will be DEAD, and as current and former service men and women, and the queer nation and its allies as a whole rejoice all over the world, a few local folks will be gathering as well. Servicemembers United, America’s Gay Military Organization will be throwing a DADT Repeal Victory Eve Party at Lobby Bar tonight, starting at 9pm they’re calling “Countdown to Repeal”

A New Years Eve-style celebration on the night of Monday, September 19th (with an actual, euphoric countdown to repeal at midnight)!

This is NOT a fundraiser, and there is NO “suggested donation.” This will be a once-in-a-lifetime moment for the gay military community, so come out and celebrate our historic victory with friends.

It doesn’t matter if you’re in the service, a veteran, or just a supporter of LGBTQ rights, pop on by and raise a toast to an end to an era of sanctioned bigotry.

Rumor has it, MSNBC might be about filming a piece on the party…so look your best.

The big “Check it OUT!” of the day.
