Oh yeah….it’s that time of year. Time to start thinking about what the hell we’re going to dress up as for Halloween, one of the big national gay holidays. (Though we find it amusing that for decades, only children and gay people joyously celebrated…then, straight adults, or at least straight bars, figured out this was both a great way to get drunk and laid wearing naughty costumes…and, for bars to make a buttload of money.)
The biggest queer Halloween event is coming back for the 11th year; Gay City’s BUMP returns to the Showbox at The Market for its annual debauchery this coming Friday, October 28, 2011 from 9pm to 2am followed by the official After party event, “GRIND” put on by the men from Two Knights Events at The Baltic Room. The competition for most outlandish costume will be FIERCE!
Since Gay City put a lot of time and effort into writing up a fabulous press release with ALL the important info in it, I have zero need to rewrite their excellent words…Cut n’Paste take it AWAY!
Presented by Gay City Health Project, BUMP includes all the elements needed to kick off Halloween weekend with a fabulous bang, including: heavenly music, decadent performers, the luscious alcohol-free Chill Lounge, Gay City’s famous $1000 Costume Contest, all emceed by the irreverent Ernie Von Schmaltz.
BUMP has always featured some of the best local and national DJs, including DJ Brian Gorr, DJ Blaine, DJ Kyler, DJ Joe King, DJ spaceotter, and DJ Kimberly S. This year is no exception, with DJ Almond Brown, DJ Karl Kamakahi, and the notorious DJ duo of Super Threat (DJ Nark and Amoania Ammoania) spinning on the Showbox stage.
Single tickets start at $40, with group rates also available. A limited number of VIP tickets are available for two BUMP VIP experiences. VIP guests at BUMP will enjoy a dedicated VIP area and bar, 2 free cocktails, express VIP entry, and free parking. Platinum VIP guests atBUMP will enjoy dedicated Platinum VIP area with hosted bar featuring premium cocktails from Pearl Vodka, premium gift bags, express VIP entry, free parking, and free entry into GRIND, the exclusive BUMP afterparty. When the music stops at Showbox, the party will keep on going at The Baltic Room, this year’s home of GRIND, the exclusive BUMPafterparty. Tickets to GRIND will be $10 at the door or $5 for BUMP VIPs. BUMP Platinum VIPS get into GRIND for free. The Baltic Room is located at 1206 E Pine St.
