It’s becoming an autumn tradition, City Arts Magazine’s music and arts festival, City Arts Fest and it always has multiple events with LGBTQ appeal, (well, nearly ALL events have some queer appeal…we know plenty of queer folks who like death metal, hip hop, reggae and/or country music…) This year, the biggest focus is on the opening night Robyn concert at The Paramount, with co-headliners YACHT...The Swedish Pop Queen is back in town to kick things off, along with YACHT, the rising young duo with partial roots in Portland. A few tickets are still available.
Friday features “Genre Bender” at On The Boards, a showcase for local talent from a variety of fields in a performance that will be “an exciting new platform for some of Seattle’s favorite theater, dance, food, music, literary and performing artists to create new projects (and new artistic genres) together.” Among the many artists participating are some familiar names from the queer arts community: Karen Finneyfrock, Rainbow Fletcher, Joanna Lepore, Mark Haim, Amy O’Neal, Mike Pham, Mark Haim, SGS contibutor Wes Hurley, and many others with a huge variety of genres being represented and a cross-pollination of arts being encouraged.
