And, they didn’t even have a going out of business sale!
(Two for one, Tweaker blowjobs?)
Our friends at CHS have the scoop (as usual). They received word that Tribe (formerly known as Basic Plumbing) the 17 year old gay “gentlemen’s club” at 10th and Pike behind The Comet has shut its doors for the final time at 8am Monday morning, January 30, 2012.
No official explanation for the closing has been given. We’ve heard rumors of some internal strife at the club when they switched from being Basic Plumbing to Tribe a couple years ago, but that’s fairly common gossip at most establishments of that nature.
My favorite line from the CHS story is: “CHS never ventured inside Tribe so we’ll have to turn it over to this first person account posted on Yelp of all places describing the club. It’s written by an apparently disinterested party but gives you an idea of what you’d find behind the red door on 10th Ave…”
What followed was a quote from the Yelp review but I’ll give you a review…I went to BP once, YEARS ago and was skeezed out by the glory hole/cum n’ go nature of the establishment. I think most people think Tribe/BP was a bathhouse, but it really wasn’t…it was a sex club pure and simple. There weren’t rooms or guys walking around in towels or a steam room. It was all about popping in for a quick blowjob. There’s nothing wrong with that, if that’s your cup of tea and you’re being sensible about it, but it’s a wee bit too impersonal for our tastes…we like to get bought a drink or two, and treated like a lady…
