Nip Slips, Swastikas And Now Guns: Madge’s Pathetic Attempts At Shock Value

July 23, 2012• byDC Williams

While Coloradans and much of the nation were reeling from the Dark Knight Massacre in Aurora, CO this weekend our Lady of Desperately Trying To Stay Relevant aka Madonna continued to perform with plastic guns this time in Scotland.

Her antics and refusal to change her act brought this response from a Scottish gun control group:

Her performance drew the ire of Mothers Against Guns, who said the 53-year-old singer “should know better.”

“Madonna and her dancers using replica guns was always in bad taste but given what happened in Colorado it is even worse,” a representative for the organization told the Saturday Morning Herald.

And that response brought forth this response from Madge’s camp:

“Madonna would rather cancel her show than censor her art,” a member of her tour staff told HuffPost’s Rob Shuter. “Her entire career, she has fought against people telling her what she can and cannot do. She’s not about to start listening to them now.”

Now I don’t believe artists should censor themselves every time or really anytime  there is a tragic event but really Madonna???  You haven’t been creating art since at least 1992 and you barely managed it then.   Your last three albums (at least) have been exercises in masturbatory train wreckery and your most recent tour just paints you as a sad, desperate, aging pop-star that can’t retire with dignity or change her act to remain relevant without resorting to tired publicity stunts.  You used to genuinely push the envelope but now you don’t even know where to find the envelope.

STOP IT MADONNA!!! YOU’RE EMBARRASSING YOURSELF!!!!

HuffPo has more details and more pictures of Madge trying to stay “edgey.”
