Editor’s Note: We sent* Seattle’s own Skyscraper Hostess and her Big Gayer Than Gay entourage down to The Seattle Great Wheel to investigate some allegations that staff had behaved in a homophobic manner towards an area gay man and his date over the weekend. (Go here to check out yesterday’s coverage of that brouhaha…) Here’s Mama Tits report:
Mama Tits visits the Seattle Great Wheel to see if the allegations of Homophobia are true…
Yesterday, August 6th, my husband Daniel J Klaudt, Arden Turnbull, Nick Bombacie, Jason Brotman and myself all went down to the Seattle Great Wheel. In light of recent allegations that they were homophobic we decided to test this out on our own. We all met up and waited in the short line to buy our tickets; it was only $14 and change after tax. While purchasing the tickets, we were greeted with warm smiles by an eager to help staff. The lovely young lady that helped me even gushed over my nails and wanted to know where I got them done! (Broadway Nails!!!)
We then moved onto the next queue to board the Seattle Great Wheel…the lady scanning tickets was polite and welcoming and she loved my nails, too!! While waiting in line we did not change our mannerisms in the slightest, yet we were mindful of the families of tourists surrounding us so our “language” was curbed a bit but still…Gay Gay Gay! They then loaded us into our gondola and again my nails were complimented by the welcoming staff. We shared a laugh with our Gondola Operators as we settled in and soon we were on our way!
While riding the Great Wheel we all pulled out our phones and took pictures and video of our journey. While we were coming through the loading area on a turn around the wheel, another operator noticed my phone case and shouted to me as we passed “I love your phone case…and your nails!” I shouted back “Thanks!” and we continued around.
We were on the Great Wheel for almost 30 minutes for our original $14 and change ticket price, once around slowly to load the Wheel and 4 complete uninterrupted rotations. When we were disembarking our gondola the staff welcomed us back to the ground and thanked us for coming down. We all smiled, thanked them and went on our Gay Old Way.
So from Mama Tits to all of you, I just want to say that I found no one on the Great Wheel staff or anyone visiting the Wheel to be homophobic! So grab your friends, in groups of 5 or 6 so you can have your own gondola, and get down to the Seattle Great Wheel. Remember to follow the safety rules and of course be respectful of the other people wanting to enjoy their ride and you will have a blast!
Love,
Mama Tits
EDITOR’S NOTE: It also apparently helps to avoid homophobia if you have a FABULOUS manicure…
*Also note that we really didn’t send Mama Tits on assignment. She’s an independent agent…with a Posse.
