We’ve discussed Ms Monsoon’s exhausting 2024 schedule quite a lot on here…as of this posting, Jinkx is rehearsing to go on as Audrey in “Little Shop of Horrors” in NYC, followed by a month long Seattle gig at Seattle Rep doing a show with Major Scales, THEN returning to NYC and another turn as Mama Morton in “Chicago” after that for a short stint.
Oh, and promoting their guest star role on the upcoming season of “Dr. Who” which will air in May.
Now we know what the former Seattleite/RuPaul Drag Race two time winner will be doing AFTER all of that…headlining their hometown Pride celebrations on July 21st in Portland, Oregon.
It was announced this past Thursday that Jinkx, aka Hera Hoffer, will take to the stage at Portland’s huge waterfront Pride event on Sunday, July 21st. This year also marks a big change in dates for Portland’s Pride event which had been produced on the third weekend of June for many years.
Pride Northwest had this to say about booking Jinkx:
Jinkx grew up in Portland and lived there until he went to Seattle to attend Cornish College of the Arts. After winning RuPaul’s Drag Race for the first time in 2013, Jinkx continued to be based out of Seattle for several years before buying a home in Portland. The 2015 documentary DRAG BECOMES HIM (full disclosure: I was an associate producer on this film) documents Jinkx’s beginnings in Portland and Seattle and features great interviews with friends and family members and you can watch that documentary on several streaming platforms, many of them for free, but go pay $3.99 to watch it on Apple TV so I can earn 1/4 of one cent in residuals.
