Tickets Still Left For The Final Red Dress Party

May 14, 2024• byMichael Strangeways

And, you don’t even have to wear a dress!! Which is a bit shocking for an event called the Red DRESS Party!

Yes, it used to be a major gala event for many many years in LGBTQ+ Seattle but the Red Dress Party has run its course. A popular fundraiser for HIV/AIDS support groups like Lifelong AIDS Alliance, Gay City and others, the almost yearly event raised a lot of money over the decades. But, HIV/AIDS has come a long ways and it’s not the deadly scourge that decimated the queer community for so long that it once was…plus, attendance has dwindled over the years (and frankly, the parties got less ‘gala’…) and Covid also helped put a kibosh on it.

Sooooo…it’s time to wrap it all up with one last event which is happening Saturday, May 25th, aka Memorial Day Weekend (a rather odd time for a big community event in our opinion…) It’s being produced by Seattle PrideFest at Block 41, at the corner of 4th and Bell and you can snag tickets at: https://www.strangertickets.com/events/147007786/seattle-red-dress-party-2024-the-last-dance

The talent line-up includes Ultra Naté, Gold Chisme, DJ Alfonso Tan, and amazing local dance troupe, Purple Lemonade, along with headlining DJs, The Perry Twins who you might remember for their many appearances at the old Purr Bar’s annual Pride events for many, many, many years.

A bit more intel:

Last dance, last chance for…Seattle’s Red Dress Party!

That’s right, folks, it’s a wrap after more than a decade of Red Dress. We stopped due to the pandemic and lower attendance but didn’t want to just fade away. We wanted a party worthy of all those beautiful nights of the Seattle Red Dress Party, with tens of thousands raised for HIV/AIDS charities. With that in mind, we’re bringing back some Red Dress favorites as well as honoring the various producers, from the 80s to today. AND we’ll still be raising money for charity, with funds going to Seattle’s LGBTQ+ Center to support their PReP program and PrideFest to help build community. It’s going to be an amazing night. We encourage everyone to wear a red dress to celebrate this iconic event (though red suits will be allowed for those uncomfortable in a dress).
