Spring is in the air and volunteers are still needed for Seattle Earth Gay 2014. This year, Out for Sustainability is teaming up with Beacon Bike Park to clean up Cheasty Greenspace on Beacon Hill. More info and how to sign up:
OUT for Sustainability will be partnering with Beacon Bike Park to restore Cheasty Greenspace, the urban forest located on Beacon Hill, in preparation for the implementation of bike trails. During Earth Gay volunteers will be removing of invasive species like blackberry and english ivy, weeding, mulching, protecting tree systems from invasive species, and planting native species.
Earth Gay will be in the Beacon Hill Neighborhood at Cheasy Greenspace with two shifts between at 9:30am to 2:30pm.
FIRST SHIFT
9:30-10am: Registration for 1st shift – Signing in for the event, getting tools and gloves, meeting each other and enjoying snacks
10am-Noon: 1st shift restoring urban forest in the Cheasty GreenspaceSECOND SHIFT
Noon-12:30pm: Registration for 2nd shift – Signing in for the event, getting tools and gloves, meeting each other and enjoying snacks

At some point, we might need to organize a bunch of people to go clean up down at the Gay Beach at the Arboretum…it’s a huge mess down there. It looks like people have dumped TRASH down there, in addition to a whole lot of new graffiti on the diving underpass. Looking real messy and dystopic down there. Ugh.
