Dahlings! It’s Time for some “Auntie Mame”!

If you do not love the immortal book/play/film “Auntie Mame” you are, quite frankly, dead to Mr. Strangeways. The book, by Patrick Dennis, became a monster hit play and its star, Rosalind Russell made the divine film version as well. “Auntie Mame” didn’t invent the concept of camp, but it certainly perfected the genre. Every drag performer today, is at least one tenth, Mame Dennis (or, Rosalind Russell).

And, it’s a cash cow for Three Dollar Bill Cinema, our local queer film cinema group and producers of the Seattle Lesbian & Gay Film Festival and many other film programs through out the year. For the 1456th time, they will screen this beloved cinema classic for our holiday pleasure (and, to raise a buck or two…) The Banquet full of Mame will be held this coming Thursday, December 15th, at 7:30pm at Pacific Place Cinema and tickets are still available, but going fast…you will not want to miss out on this hysterical camp classic.

And, note for those of you who have seen it on television/home video for years but not on the big screen. “Auntie Mame” is an ENTIRELY different experience! It was shot in a wide screen format, and you pick up so many more details when you see it a big screen…like that lesbian couple in the background during the opening party scene…
