Big, big, BIG emotions as All American defensive end Michael Sam was picked up by the St. Louis Rams in the 7th round of the 2014 NFL draft. The University of Missouri star came out as a gay man earlier this year and it quickly become a topic of discussion if this would affect his chances of being drafted by an NFL team. Though he snuck in late on the final day of the draft, Mr. Sam’s pick up was seen as a positive move for the Rams and professional football. The athlete becomes the first openly gay man to play for the NFL.
He also makes history as the first openly gay NFL draft choice to kiss his boyfriend in front of live television cameras upon receiving word of his choice. His emotional reaction will make even the most jaded non-sports fan tear up.
Bravo, Michael Sam.
