It’s your annual chance to piss/moan/holla/gently suggest/stand and deliver about your favorite subject: Seattle Pride! The group formerly known as “SO&P” aka “Seattle Out & Proud” is meeting this Wednesday, Nov 12 from 6 to 8pm at the Capitol Hill branch of Cupcake Royale. The group, who put on the Parade portion of Pride (NOT PrideFest at Seattle Center….that’s the job of Egan Orion’s One Degree) is eager to hear your ideas and suggestions on how to make their part of Pride, special for everyone. Seattle Pride will host its 2015 Community Meeting from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, November 12, 2014 at Cupcake Royale on Capitol Hill (1111 E. Pike St., Seattle, WA 98122). Interested parties are encouraged to RSVP here.
As in previous years, the Seattle Pride 2015 Community Meeting is an opportunity for community members to come together in a face-to-face setting to offer suggestions and guidance for upcoming Seattle Pride events. The gathering is open to the public, free to attend and everyone is welcome.
Seattle Pride’s Board of Directors will be present at the 2015 Community Meeting.
“These community meetings are a wonderful way to interact with the people we are working for year after year,” Seattle Pride President Eric Bennett said. “We want to hear your thoughts, concerns, suggestions, and opinions on how we can make Seattle Pride 2015 a showstopper for everyone.”
Here’s a list of questions and concerns you MIGHT bring up at the meeting:
- Are you doing another spring event to get people excited about Seattle Pride?
- If not, why aren’t you?
- Why is the Parade so damn long and boring?
- What can be done to encourage more/better floats?
- Why do you have so many Marshals? Shouldn’t it be a special honor rather than something given to 8 people/groups every year?
- Why don’t you have the public VOTE for some of the Marshals?
- How do we incorporate more Art and Cultural events into Seattle Pride?
- Seriously….the Parade is too long and needs more floats and fewer large groups of corporate employees marching down 4th Avenue advertising their corporate parent…
Just a few ideas for discussion. Bring your own!
