Our Gaily News: Seahawks Love/Nasty Cops/Geraldine McEwan Edition

February 2, 2015• byMichael Strangeways
Who wore it better?

Who wore it better?

No…the Seattle Seahawks DIDN’T win Super Bowl 49 (The New England Patriots did with a score of 28-24) but Katy Perry did give a splendid half-time show that included a special guest appearance from Missy Elliot and a homage to the “More You Know” star…also: Hot Dog on a Stick inspired costuming.

Meanwhile, back in Seattle, a hungover depressed city copes with the fact they’re not consecutive Super Bowl winners. Fortunately, a passive nature and huge amounts of indica coursing through the majority of the area’s bloodstreams means there wasn’t much rioting to speak of….just excessive pissing and moaning.

Finally, a hearty thanks to the Seahawks for a great year of football…we have the most entertaining team of football players in the country! Great work, men!

In other news, area homosexuals are chagrined to discover that one of the most unpleasantly vile cops in Seattle is allegedly a foul mouthed, pot stealing, racist lesbian. Le Stranger has dug up a former lover of Officer Cynthia Whitlatch, also a former law enforcement officer, who claims the reviled cop has a long history of racism and inappropriate behavior. Whitlatch is currently at the center of a scandal involving her arresting an elderly African-American man, William Wingate without just cause. The officer claims Wingate was using a golf club in a threatening manner but dash cameras don’t back up her story and now Whitlach is under numerous investigations. Meanwhile, others question why a lesbian woman is being singled out for investigation for problematic policing while so many similarly accused male officers in the Seattle Police Department are not. And, many are unhappy with how new Police Chief Kathleen O’Toole and Seattle’s “Big Gay Mayor” Ed Murray are handling the issue of rogue police officers. Murray has come under criticism since he took office last year for removing SPD staff committed to cleaning up the Police Department simply because they were aligned with former Mayor Mike McGinn. Seattle’s struggle with its Police Department continues….

McEwanLucia

Finally, in the saddest news of all, beloved British actress GERALDINE MCEWAN passed away on January 30 at age 82. Best known to American audiences as Miss Marple in ITV’s controversial retellings of the classic Agatha Christie detective novels that featured the adding of numerous gay and lesbian characters to stories that didn’t originally contain such plots, McEwan was also known as the lively Lucia in Channel 4’s production of E.F. Benson’s popular comic novels, known collectively as “Mapp & Lucia” and for numerous roles over the years that reached our shores via Masterpiece Theatre. Miss McEwan was also a highly celebrated stage actress, both in London and New York, and made numerous film appearances over the years. The actress also appears in gay playwright Joe Orton’s Diaries as she starred in his production of “Loot” in 1965.

A delicious toast to a great dame, (who reportedly turned down official royal offers of damehood) Geraldine McEwan!
