LOGO TV finally announces the line-up and start date for “RuPaul’s Drag Race: All-Stars 2” the second edition of their All-Star reunion show which brings back some of their favorite “losers” from previous seasons to compete for another chance to be “America’s Next Top Drag Superstar”. Chad Michaels, the Cher impersonator from Season 4 won the first “RPDR: All Stars” a couple years ago.
For this go round, they’re brought back some of your “favorites” (?) including a whole gaggle of bee-atches from Season Five (the Year that Our Jinkx won). Not only do we get the unholy triumvirate of “RoLaskaTox” aka Roxxxy Andrews, Alaska Thunderfuck and Detox, but for reasons unfathomable, we also get Alyssa Edwards and Coco Montrese, the super annoying feuding duo from their season whose boring bickering almost destroyed the show.
So, of the 10 contestants competing, five of them are from Season Five.
What shitty casting. Without Jinkx, why the fuck would you want to watch an instant replay of that season? Roxxxy is an untalented and bitter cow. By herself, Alyssa is amusing but when it’s her bickering with the deadly dull and whiny Coco…ugh. (Though, we’re guessing they’re gonna play nice this time…which would be even blander.)
Detox and Alaska are fun but let’s be honest…they were LAAAAAAZY on their season and coasted along until the last couple episodes when they figured out they really needed to up their game but by then, it was too late. Jinkx had already won America’s heart.
The other five include one gal from Season 2 (the fun bitch Tatianna); Phi Phi from Season 4 (she’s made up for her nasty ways from that season and now she’s a fan favorite so without Sharon Needles to fight with, isn’t she going to be boring?); Adore Delano from Season 6 and two gals from Season 7, Ginger Minj and Katya.
There are NO queens representing Seasons One or Three. Sucks to be them.
The first 4 seasons of “RPDR” had pretty good casting…a nice mix of different types/styles/personalities of queens. Then, it started to fall apart with Season Five as the producers started creating unnecessary drama on the show with idiotic stunt casting like having Coco and Alyssa relive their BOOOOOOOOOORING feud.
Personally, I would have subbed in Shangela for Coco and BenDeLaCreme for Roxxy.
RuPaul’s Drag Race All-Stars 2 debuts on LOGO on August 25, 2016, which is pretty much exactly one year since they filmed this thing.
Our bets are on Alaska or Adore to win since they were the runners up in their respective seasons and both have huge fan bases.
What do YOU think? Are we excited about this line-up?
