Sports Illustrated celebrated TeamUSA winning the Women’s World Cup with this fantastic digital cover shoot that features all 23 players including superstar Seattlite Megan Rapinoe and coach Jill Ellis.
Until now. SI caught up with the USWNT before it was honored with a ticker-tape parade in New York City on July 10 and shot portraits of each player and Ellis with the World Cup trophy. The result: 24 commemorative digital covers celebrating the 2019 champions. They are all available for purchase at the SI Covers Store (along with all of SI’s past World Cup covers featuring the USWNT–including the multiple 2019 preview covers that feature the entire team).

Co-captains Rapinoe and Alex Morgan also got a funny tribute on the Jimmy Kimmel show on Thursday night. The comedian served the pair a huge stack of chicken nuggets in a gag reflecting Rapinoe and the team proclaiming they had no interest in a visit to Donald Trump’s White House per the Trump’s disastrous policies on LGBTQ and immigrant rights. The Trump White House has earned ridicule in the past for serving visiting winning sports teams a banquet of various fast foods from national chain restaurants, something that has earned the White House much ridicule.
Meanwhile, Kimmel offered the two co-captains a chance at experiencing the kind of fine dining they would have received had they visited 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, with the late night talk show host bringing out 5,000 chicken nuggets in a dig at Trump’s proclivity toward serving athletes fast food.
“I don’t want to cheat you out of the experience of visiting the White House, so we prepared something special for you,” Kimmel said as a curtain dropped to reveal two faux Secret Service agents standing guard over the gigantic pile of nuggets.
