Gay icons get a Bronx Cheer in this year’s Razzie noms.

Love them. Love the tv show. Hate the films.

Every year, the day before the Oscar nominations come out, the Razzie nominations are announced for the WORST films and performances of the year. On schedule, the 31st annual Razzie noms were announced today and apparently someone on the nominating committee has it in for gay beloved divas of a certain age. In the Worst Supporting Actress category, Liza Minnelli, Barbra Streisand and Cher were all nominated for their work in the films they appeared in, Sex and the City 2, Little Fockers and Burlesque respectively.

Ouch.

Surprisingly, the much maligned Burlesque only received the one nomination, for Cher. (Not fair: Christina Aguilera was equally awful!) M. Night Shyamalan’s The Last Airbender and Twilight Saga: Eclipse shared the honor of the most nominations, with 9 each which surprised many Hollywood insiders since both films are so awful that they should have received twice that many nominations…All three leads from Eclipse were cited separately and actor Jackson Rathbone earned a Worst Supporting Actor nom for appearing in BOTH Eclipse and Airbender. Also receiving a lotta hate from the Razzies: Sex and the City 2 with 7 nominations including a joint Worst Actress nomination for the four primary actresses, Sarah Jessica Parker, Kim Cattrall, Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis and three well-deserved noms for producer/director/writer Michael Patrick King who has single-handedly turned a beloved and brilliant television series into a cinematic pukefest.

The best thing about the Razzies? They provide future suggestions for Ian Bell’s Brown Derby parody productions at Re-bar and Bad Movie nights at Central Cinema…

The “winners” will be announced Saturday, February 26, the day before the Oscars, at Hollywood’s Barnsdall Gallery Theatre. Don’t plan on Babs, Liza or Cher to be attending.

Oscar noms come out tomorrow, and we’ll yak about them all day Tuesday.
