It happened yesterday, but lots of champagne wishes to our Prince of Puke, the iconic filmmaker John Waters turned 67 years young on April 22, 2013. Salud to the genius who gave the world “Pink Flamingos”, “Hairspray” and best of all, “Female Trouble” and introduced the world to his co-genius, the one and only Divine!
Seattle Theater Group also gave us, meaning Seattle based fans of Mr. Waters, an additional treat yesterday…they announced their line-up for the 2013/14 season and one of the best gifts they could give us was:
A John Waters Christmas
It’s happening December 5, 2013 at The Neptune in the University District and it’s Mr. Waters’ usual dog and pony show of outrageous anecdotes and commentary but with a delightful seXmas theme!!!! Fun!!!!!
Here’s more poo:
Like a wayward Santa for the Christmas obsessed, John Waters – legendary filmmaker (Pink Flamingos, Hairspray, A Dirty Shame), and author of the 2010 bestselling book,Role Models – cruises into town on his sleigh full of smut this December, spreading yuletide cheer and lunacy with his critically acclaimed one-man show, “A John Waters Christmas.” Putting the “X” back in Xmas, Waters’ rapid-fire monologue explores and explodes the traditional holiday rituals and traditions as he shares his compulsive desire to give and receive perverted gifts, a religious fanaticism for Santa Claus, and an unhealthy love of real life holiday horror stories. Delving into his passion for lunatic exploitation Christmas movies and the unhealthy urge to remake all his own films into seasonal children’s classics, “The Pope of Trash” will give you a Joyeux Noel like no other.
You have to buy a subscription to STG if you want to buy tickets NOW…if you wait a bit longer, single ticket sales will be announced.
Also: tickets to this show would make for an ideal Thanksgiving stocking stuffer!
