Did Manila Luzon win RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 3?

March 20, 2011• bySeattle Gay Scene

Manila Luzon and Sahara Davenport at the 2011 GLAAD Media Awards in NYC.

The lovely Manila Luzon from Season Three of RuPaul’s Drag Race attended Saturday night’s GLAAD Media Awards event in NYC with Season Two contestant Sahara Davenport. Both ladies wore blue gowns, (rather boring and bland blue gowns in our opinion) but most interestingly, Ms Luzon wore a blue gown that featured a BIG, BLUE RIBBON as part of the garment! Uh, what is she trying to say with that dress? Is it a statement that, “Hey, I’m wearing a blue ribbon which means I WON “Drag Race”!”, or is she just being “funny” wearing an awards symbol to an awards show? Or, does it say the opposite of, “I won!” and indicates that she lost? It’s a bit confusing and rather controversial because ALL contestants on competitive television shows sign very large contracts that demand they NOT reveal the outcome of the competition prior to the airing of the show…there can be harsh penalties if those terms are violated. And, whether or not Ms Luzon is the winner or not, she very well might have violated those terms by wearing the dress. Revealing that you DIDN’T win is just as bad as revealing that you DID win. We’re guessing she’s just being “funny” here, but we’re also wondering if she got chewed out by her network, Logo today for being a “naughty girl”… Time will tell.

And, both ladies also get an “F” for their RC posing…they look AWFUL here!

Agree with Dennis, you must be a Shangela fan or just really lonely to talk about someone as talented and fierce as Manila Luzon. And how can she be in trouble for wearing a ribbon that does or does not proclaim her the winner, she never admitted to anything! Its an award show, she themes her outfits Idiot.

I’m pretty sure Manila won Drag Race.

As of last night, there are only three contenders left — Manila, Raja, and Alexis. Can you really see Alexis winning this thing? I can’t. So that takes it down to either Manila or Raja. While I really dig Raja and think she’s a really great queen, she lacks some of Manila’s beauty, charisma, and talent.

The clincher for me was seeing Manila on the NewNowNext awards last night. Several queens from this season of Drag Race appeared in the opening number, but neither Alexis nor Raja was among them — only Manila. Granted, I suppose that could mean that Manila came in third, with Raja and Alexis taking the top two spots. But something tells me that the reason Manila was the only non-booger in the opening number is because she won and was bound by her contract to make the appearance.

I was thinking the opposite, because she appaeared with all the others…
I’m confused about the drag race winners anyway, since it seems that the top three all get spots in the absolute ads anyway. During the new now next awards, when the back street girls appeared, and the majority of the back street girls were the ones who had been axed, and then Manilla was performing with them, i couldn’t help but think she was third place. That Alexis took second and Raja first, because i was confused as to why she would be performing, and no Alexis and no Raja. Secondly, i’m pretty sure that Yara Sophia will be performing in one of the Absolute Ads, since Pandora Box appears frequently in their ads. I just don’t understand, i thought only the winners would get that contract.
