The soundtrack of Pride 2011: DJ El Toro and KEXP bring it.

June 23, 2011• bySeattle Gay Scene

Local band "Noddy" is just one of the knuckle busting artists featured on KEXP's "Big Gay Podcast".

You know you’re going to be awash in a sea of Gaga this weekend, and while we love her, you might need a little break from her…DJ El Toro, (aka Kurt B. Reighley) and KEXP 90.3 FM have come to your rescue with their 3rd Annual Big Gay Podcast featuring some more alternative sounds to groove to this Pride Weekend. Best of all: it’s Free!! Go here to download/listen to 75 minutes of very electic and diverse music featuring:

a wide gamut of sounds by queer artists, from conscious Seattle hip-hop and wig-flipping garage rock to 8-bit electronica, neoclassical chamber music, and a rarity by Stephin Merritt of the Magnetic Fields. Reflecting its commitment to championing local music, this Big Gay Podcast includes select cuts by Seattle artists THEESatisfaction and Noddy, Portland troubadour Holcombe Waller, and Light Asylum (featuring Emerald City expatriate Shannon Funchess, formerly of Seattle Afro-punk combo IMIJ).

Here’s the complete set list. Check it out!
