Too many damn options for Thursday: Snackhole/Lady Bunny/619 Western Farewell Edition

July 28, 2011• bySeattle Gay Scene

Go here. Pay your respects.

Jesus (Jones), Mary (Hart) & Joseph (Fiennes)! There’s a BUTTLOAD of entertainment options for Thursday, July 28 and they’re all pretty damn awesome…You gotta make some TOUGH decisions.

Saying bye-bye to the 619 Western Building in Pioneer Square and the artists that have inhabited the building is a must though, and easily scheduled…it’s happening from 5pm to 11pm so you can pop in early to mingle with all the wonderful folks forced to leave the beloved arts icon due to its impending demolition. They’re having their final Art Walk tonight and we think you MUST stop in to give a toast to all the artists that have ever worked in the building and all the amazing events they’ve put on and all the art that’s been created under its roof (including the awesome theater created by The Satori Group, who are also having ANOTHER event tomorrow night, their “Smash Bash”…check that out, too.)

A Toast to the artists and the art and the building itself: “Salud 619 Western!”

Things get tougher as the night progresses…there are two Drag-O-Riffic Events happening at the same time and both should be hella fun, even for non-drag fans. The Divinity Known as Lady Bunny is in town for a very special night of filth at Julia’s on Broadway starting at 9pm and going until 10:30pm….she’s a Queer Icon and funny as hell and we love her. Tickets still available for tonight’s show at Brown Paper Tickets.

A local Queer Icon and equally beloved but not nearly as pink and fuzzy as the “Bunion” is our own “Lady” the incomparable Jackie Hell who’s headlining her semi-regular travesty of talent known as “Snackhole” at The Comet also starting tonight, but lasting until Midnight or so. (In theory, you could see all of Lady Bunny then the second half of Snackhole…) This installment of the ‘hole is being billed as “Beauty Pageant Massacre” and features a line-up of lovelies all competing to become…”Miss Snackhole”? The Murderer’s Row of alternative talent (these aren’t your traditional “pretty” queens…these are fierce, in your face, punk queens) include the very lovely Amoania, Magnolia Crawford, & Honey Bucket. Oh, and Noddy is providing the music and you can expect all sorts of nastiness, perversion and ribald shenanigans (but in a “Clexy” sort of way…)

Tough choices but great options.
