That’s a quote from Chaz Bono’s fiance Jennifer Elia after Chaz proposed to her on top of the Space Needle earlier this year. It’s a sweet moment from the new OWN documentary, “Being Chaz” a follow up to the Emmy nominated “Becoming Chaz” which aired Sunday night, (along with another transcentric documentary, “I am Jazz: A Family in Transition” about an adorable 11 year trans girl and her very accepting family).
We wish Chaz and Jennifer the best as they start their journey towards marriage and a lifetime of love and arguments over emptying the trash, but we are a bit put out by that quote…Should we pick a fight with Jennifer about her comment? I mean, what does that mean? Does Seattle have a reputation for NOT being special? Is it that big of a surprise to the outside world? Doesn’t she realize that we gave the world Nirvana, Chihuly, the 747, Dina Martina, Twin Peaks, Starbucks, Internet Explorer, The Kindle and Cotlets? That all seems pretty special to me.
Or maybe she was just stunned by the sudden realization she will become Cher’s daughter in law…
