Congrats to Jennifer and Chelsea for the correct answer to our ticket giveaway quiz for Seattle Rep’s hit production of “I Am My Own Wife” now playing through NEXT Saturday, March 10th! They each win a pair of tickets to the play everyone in town is talking about! (AND, also to Fletcher, Eric, Jill and Andrew for coming up with the correct answer…just not as fast as Jennifer and Chelsea…you’re still awesome!)
Here’s the quiz question:
Playwright Doug Wright won the Tony Award and the Pulitzer Prize for “I Am My Own Wife”. He also earned a Tony nomination for “Best Book of a Musical” for his work on the hit Broadway musical, “Grey Gardens” based on the documentary about the Beales, the notorious mother/daughter duo who lived in a ruin of a mansion on Long Island and who were relatives of Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis. Mr. Wright lost that Tony Award to the book of ANOTHER hot musical that recently had its Northwest premiere in Seattle, and will make a return engagement in April. What was the name of the Broadway musical that won the Tony for “Best Book of a Musical” in 2007?
And, of course the answer is: “Spring Awakening” and the writer was Steven Sater…AND, Balagan Theatre produced the NW premiere of the show in January to rave reviews, and it returns in April for a whole new run! Get tickets here.
Meanwhile, a few tickets still remain for “I Am My Own Wife” at the Rep…AND, check out the Rep’s other currently running show “Red”…it’s also a big hit and was just extended for an extra week as well. (Review for “Red” coming soon…)
