Werk…RuPaul’s Drag Race ALL-STAR Edition is coming this fall!

March 12, 2012• bySeattle Gay Scene

Entertainment Weekly has the scoop…the inevitable has happened and the apparently not quite ready to totally de-gay itself LOGO network is working on “All Stars: RuPaul’s Drag Race” to air in the fall…Here’s some poo from EW:

Drag Race is currently airing its fourth season, and all told, there will be 46 past constants for producers to consider featuring in the new show. The cast won’t be announced for a few months, but one spot on the roster will be chosen by fans, who can log votes on the show’s Facebook page.

All Stars: RuPaul’s Drag Race will air six, one-hour episodes this fall on Logo.

Yup…not a big surprise, though personally I think they should have waited until AFTER the 5th season to do this…it’s a bit early for an All Star show. What is a surprise, is that they’re only doing 6 episodes…does that mean we won’t have a dozen contestants and more than one contestant will be voted off at a time? Is LOGO so damned cheap and stupid they weren’t willing to commit to more episodes? Obviously this show will have huge appeal for fans…it seems rather obvious that a full series would do well in the ratings. But, then again, LOGO has been rather stupid from the get go…

And, as mentioned above, the Facebook page for “All Stars” is already up and you can go vote for your favorite, (or least favorite queen, if you want to stir shit up) every 24 hours. I voted for poor Madame LaQueer because she only had 5 votes…I felt sorry for her.

It’s interesting to note that so far (and the site JUST opened, we must admit) none of the WINNERS of the first three seasons are doing very well in the voting, with Raja from Season 3 doing the best, coming in at number 13, and Tyra Sanchez (Season 2) and Bebe Zahara Benet (Season 1) coming in at numbers 33 and 35 respectively, getting beat by the likes of  a supposedly unpopular contestant like Mimi Imfurst…guess RuPaul really isn’t a very good judge of who is America’s Next Drag Superstar…

And, for what it’s worth, here’s how I’d cast the All Star show:

  1. Sharon Needles
  2. Manila Luzon
  3. Alexis Mateo
  4. Tatianna
  5. Latrice Royale
  6. Ongina
  7. Shangela
  8. Raven
  9. Shannel
  10. Nina Flowers
  11. Pandora Boxx
  12. Willam

Just the right amount of talent and crazy to make the show interesting…
