Pride weekend is upon us! Holla! It looks to be a fabulous weekend full of many fun events.
Among them is an awesome live show at The Funhouse, conveniently located underneath the currently orange shadow of the Space Needle! They have booked a broad variety of bands for folks of all musical tastes for this Pride Weekend. From Electronic to Alternative Rock to a DJ spinning dance tunes.
The line-up includes:
Wishbeard a melodic group that leans more towards instrumental music, with a tag line that calls them “Queer Space Rock”. They have a great sound that is sure to be crowd pleaser. I checked out their website and thought, “Are these kids even legal to be in a bar???” They look like 15 year olds! Ha! Ha! Of course they are of bar age, so go check them out!
Ononos are according to their myspace page “Electronicacoustic/Fusion/Visual”. Their sound is experimental and runs the gamut of various styles and sounds. The singer is Marcus Wilson, the owner of Pony on Capitol Hill and was formerly in the group “Ursula Android”. Other members of “Ononos” come from local bands “The Cripples” and “The Coconut Coolouts”.From the live footage I saw, they put on quite a show complete with costumes and lots of visuals!

Glitterbang is an electronic/pop duo that is keyboard and vocal based. Nicki Danger and Joey Veneziani are the band. Nicki’s voice is beautiful and complements their music perfectly. Their music is celebratory and fun to dance to, they’ll have you moving from the first note! http://www.myspace.com/glitterbangmusic
Posse is an “Alternative band”, meaning really their music is a not so heavy version of punk rock. You can hear the influences of bands like “Sonic Youth” and “The Breeders” in their music. The band alternates between male and female vocalists, both with great voices that mesh well with the music they play. The band is a three piece consisting of Sacha Maxim and Paul Whitman-Todd on vocals and Jon Salzman on drums. https://www.facebook.com/Posseband
The Fancy is a more light hearted band that brings a quieter sound to round out the day.
The band consists of three chicks and a dude, and they’re all pretty! And one of them is a bassoonist! How can you beat that! Make sure check them out! http://www.wearefancy.net/wordpress/bio/
And filling out the line-up we have Amateur Youth, a DJ that spins current hits, hip hop, rock, 80’s and according to their website, “a few surprises”. So come down and dance, dance, dance!
So make sure to get over to the “The Funhouse” this Sunday to shake your rump! I’ll be there and I expect ya’ll to join me for one of their fabulous cocktails! (No kidding, they are really good! And on Sundays they have $4 Mimosas, Screwdrivers and Bloody Marys!)
The show starts at 3pm with an $8 cover, which is a great deal for all this live entertainment! For “The Funhouse” location and details go to their website:
