Kindle and other E reading devices are fine, if you like soulless methods of enjoying a good book, but frankly, we prefer the old fashioned notion of sitting in a big cozy chair in front of a roaring radiator with a kitty on our lap and a vintage paperback edition of an Agatha Christie mystery to peruse on a cold dreary winter’s night. If you love REAL books or have friends/family on your holiday gift list who also enjoy the feel of paper on their fingertips, then you might want to bop down to Gay City (517 East Pike Street) either today (Friday, the End of the World Day) or Saturday, December 22 to check out their Big Surplus Book Sale at the Michael C Weidemann LGBT Library. It’s going on today (Friday the 21st) until 8pm and tomorrow from 11am to 5pm. Hardbacks are $5; paperbacks are $3 and there is even a $1 clearance table of goodies to pick through. Proceeds go to benefit the library so it’s a Good Thing.
Hint: Mr. Strangeways LOVES books and thinks they make good gifts…(Hint, Hint)
Also: He likes books with lots of photos/drawings of naked mens.
