In Rare Non-Drag Related News: Mr. Sedaris Returns To Town This November

July 2, 2014• bySeattle Gay Scene

sedari-face

Like the apple maggots and the angry crows, you can count on beloved humorist DAVID SEDARIS to make the trek to Seattle at least once a year. Unlike maggots and crows, Mr. Sedaris is here to give a reading and make some desperately needed cash to support his homosexually inclined, Eurocentric lifestyle. It was announced last week that he’ll bop back into Benaroya Hall on November 17, 2014…

… at 8pm. Tickets are on sale now. ‘Sedaristas’ traditionally pack the house, and this reading and signing is not expected to be any different.  The author always delights with twists of humor and intelligence. He is expected to share both published stories and works-in-progress.

David Sedaris may well be the closest thing the literary world has these days to a rock star. His sardonic wit and incisive social critiques have made him one of America’s pre-eminent humor writers. The great skill with which Sedaris slices through cultural euphemisms and political correctness proves that he is a master of satire and one of the most observant writers addressing the human condition today. He is the  author of the books Let’s Explore Diabetes with Owls, Squirrel Seeks Chipmunk, When You Are Engulfed in Flames, Dress Your Family in Corduroy and Denim, Me Talk Pretty One Day, Holidays on Ice, Naked, and Barrel Fever. He is a regular contributor to The New Yorker and NPR’s This American Life. He lives in England.
Northwest Associated Arts (NWAA) and The Stranger present David Sedaris. Tickets are $54 or $45 and available through the Benaroya Hall Box Office, at 206.215.4747 or online at www.benaroyahall.org.
We adore him but let’s be honest.
It’s been all downhill after Barrel Fever.
