No…not *that* kind of fantasy. Well, maybe. But only a little.
Are you running low on elf ears? Pentacles? Cosplay makeup? Does everyone you know tell you that you live in your own little world? Then by all means, get down to the Doubletree Hilton (by the airport) for Mythic Worlds! Famed faerie artist a la Hot Topic Amy Brown will be there, along with a plethora of artists, writers, merchants, and musicians. Panels and author interviews will delight the senses as well.
And if that’s not enough for your fantastical brain to wrap itself around an imagined world, masquerade balls will be held Saturday night. Music will be provided all three nights, to please your druidic/wiccan/alternate universe ambiance. Also, co-composer from The Vikings, Einar Selvik of Wardruna, will be there for Q&A! Writers will be able to attend workshops, and you’ll find plenty of decorative things to further enhance the magical realm of your home.
This is the perfect getaway for the introverted fantasy expert in you. It looks like a smaller convention, so no big-league, harrassing PAX or SakuraCon pressure to be found. As I learned from Steamposium, everyone will most likely be more open, kind, and non-judgy, because the fandom revolves around more literary sensibilities. So there are no wrong answers. Yay!
Go! Getchyer fantasy on! I see you over there, at the library…hiding behind a few shelves, pretending you didn’t just pull out a copy of that one book with the dragons and talking cats. Mythic Worlds is here for you!
