He is just pissed off that “trannyshack” and the Ru Paul language debate didn’t end up as wins for him (he was VERY invested in continuing his unchallenged slurs) and this is how he has decided to take it out on the trans community. If I hadn’t had so many run ins with Mr. Strangeways in the past over this same issue I might have thought it was just ignorance, but instead I can only assume this is pure unadulterated malice. He is attempting to goad the trans community into something, lord knows what though, it’s all part of some totally batshit plan to make trans women look bad for asking for basic respect and human decency from (at the very least) the rest of the gender and sexual minority community.
This whole thing is just transparent as hell (I mean if we say anything bad suddenly we’re against charity for queer youth, and maybe even queer youth at large!!!!) and sad as can be. Why you would want to associate a charity with this kind of overt transphobia for any other reason is beyond me. Mr Strangeways might want to help queer youth, except of course trans youth, who he clearly wants to know how thoroughly unwelcome they are in his particular version of the LGB community. Trans incarceration is very high, the justice system is rigged against trans women in particular, and the conditions in US prisons for trans women are often deplorable.
This is an obvious attempt by Michael to use the current publicity surrounding trans people, from the end of Michfest to Bruce Jenner, all just to further his own career. This attempt to stir up controversy only shows how callous and underhanded he is. He belongs with Vogel and Brennan and the other hypocritical haters who have it out for trans people, particularly trans women. All because we ruined his fun by pointing out to his friends how it’s hurtful when he calls us “Trannies” and they listened to us instead of him.
He likes to get mad when we act like he is the enemy, but he so very clearly wants to make himself the enemy of compassion and inclusion within the LGBT community.

The “Tran” in Tranma stands for “Transvestite” the old school term for drag queens. Having waged THAT dreary war last year (aka “Trannyshack Gate”) I’ll just simply restate that the Trans* community doesn’t get to OWN the prefix “tran” or “trans” and the word “tranny” was and is used by drag queens to refer to each other. Does that mean that actual trans* identified people should be addressed as such. Of course not. It’s a slur when used AGAINST a specific person who finds it offensive. That’s disrespectful and rude.

It seems Michael’s inability to present himself as this character except when begging us to keep them locked away perhaps represents some inner self-loathing that he is attempting to process. Perhaps he wishes that he had a drag-granddaughter to refer to him as such, but he does not feel that he is worthy of the drag performers he aspires to emulate with this character?
When I take an effort to present myself as more feminine, it is usually a way for me to express some inner truth about how I feel about myself as a person.
